Most Americans probably assume that they can gather with friends and neighbors to say whatever they want about politics to whoever is willing to listen. They presume that the First Amendment protects their right to get together and buy yard signs, publish newsletters or pay for radio or television ads urging people to vote for or against a candidate -- and to do so free of government interference.

Unfortunately, most Americans would be wrong. Today, when Americans band together and spend even small amounts of money to advocate the election or defeat of a candidate, they must submit to government regulation and limits on the funds they can raise. Because of these campaign finance laws, the presumption in favor of free speech rooted in the First Amendment has largely given way to a presumption of regulation.

Vote for McCain?

The mistake the Republican establishment made was moving so far “left” since they captured the Congress. And, after loosing the whole shooting-match in 2006, believing that more of the same would help. November will be brutal – and necessary.

Everyone keeps saying McCain will support the troops – as I am sure he will in words and his heart. But, with a House and Senate that will be near veto-proof, just what do you think he will be able to accomplish? We just saw a House willing to let our ability to monitor terrorist communication – months before a presidential election (anyone remember Spain – 3/11???) – a clear indication of the atmosphere McCain will have to work in. Do you really think he will be able to pass budgets to continue the GWOT?? Really?? Remember the ONLY REASON he is a maverick is that he LEAPS across the aisle, hugs Kennedy, Libermann, Finegold and any other Democrat near by. Intentions mean nothing, the ability to pass legislation does and he will have NONE.

I am DAMN TIRED of having everyone call me a right winger when I expect the intelligence community to use ALL TOOLS NECESSARY to extract information regarding attacks on Americans – including water-boarding!

I am DAMN TIRED of having everyone call me a right winger when I expect the government to keep dangerous terrorists in a secure area and to try them in a military court. Tell me, when McCain closes Gitmo, transfers these animals to Ft. Levenworth and the legal lefties are finally successful in having them tried is a civil court, will you volunteer to be on the jury? Will you stare down a terrorist, with your family at home, and give him the death penalty knowing he will be coming for you and your kids? Really?? This is a job for the military, let them handle it.

I want: Secure Borders, stop paying to educate illegals’s children, stop making their babies citizens, stop giving them healthcare, stop giving them jobs, DO NOT LEGALIZE 12-20 MILLION of them and then invite their immediate family to join them, do not give them driver’s licenses, do not give them credit cards, do not give them home loans, THEY ARE HERE ILLEGALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone read the stories of an equally vocal band of scientists warning we may be on the edge of a mini-ice age because of reduced solar sun spot activity??? We’ve have broken the 1969 snowfall record here in Iowa – hello??? The sun is 333,000 TIMES LARGER than the earth!!!!! It is our thermometer, NOT man.

Anyone notice how nicely the whole “no advertising against a named candidate 30 days before a primary” clause worked after his lies about Rommney in Florida??

I am DAMN TIRED of having everyone call me a right winger when McCain saw fit to take away the vote of my Senator through his little “gang of 14”. Scholar after scholar feels strongly that filibusters of judicial candidates are un-constitutional, we should have settled the matter once and for all.

The Republican Party, at the NATIONAL level, has chosen to move so far left, away from the BASIC principles of a secure nation, free speech, national sovereignty that I am now expected to abandon MY core beliefs – beliefs that have guided my 40 years as a voting Republican. As they ponder their disaster this fall - and make no mistake, it will be a disaster – it will not be because of conservative’s stubbornness, it will be because the Republican Party has abandoned every principle that attracted conservatives and replaced them with those of the liberal left. It has shown me the door, and I have taken the hint.

9,125 American deaths per year at the hands of illegals!

Much has been written about the deaths of over 3960 (to date) of our soldiers in the Iraq War. With the 5th Anniversary of the start of the war just around the corner, this will certainly take center stage again next month. And, lest any think that I believe this to be trivial, I do not. The death of any soldier is sad. Yet, they died in a chosen profession, certain of the risks and proud to serve.

During this same time there were the murders of 21,900 American citizens, on American soil. There were involved in daily life. No volunteer state, simply living their lives - only to have them ended by an illegal alien, an unwelcome, unwanted and criminal intruder into our country.

Also during this time there were 23,725 American citizens, on American highways, killed by drunken illegal aliens. Killed by people who care nothing for our rule of law.

What would that May 1st look like without illegal immigration? There would be no one to smuggle across our southern border the heroin, marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamines that plague the United States, reducing the U.S. supply of meth that day by 80%. The lives of 12 U.S. citizens would be saved who otherwise die a violent death at the hands of murderous illegal aliens each day. Another 13 Americans would survive who are otherwise killed each day by uninsured drunk driving illegals. Our hospital emergency rooms would not be flooded with everything from gunshot wounds, to anchor babies, to imported diseases to hangnails, giving American citizens the day off from standing in line behind illegals. Eight American children would not suffer the horror as a victim of a sex crime.

A total of 45,625 Americans dead at the hands of illegal aliens over the past 5 years. Tell me, where is the outcry?

While celebrating Obama's Super Tuesday's wins, it would seem campaign team members in the Huston area put up a bit of political wall decoration: a Cuban flag with the image of Che on it.

I would like to say that I'm sure the Senator would not approve, I find my fingers can't type those words. Obviously his campaign workers saw fit to celebrate the communist country and one of its most famous murderers with a wall hanging displayed prominently behind the desk. It clearly represents these worker's political leanings. And, I suspect, the leanings of the good Senator as well.

Some thoughts on the result of a McCain Presidency

Some thoughts on what a McCain Presidency means:

* Open borders: He will sign the Kennedy bill after "securing the boarder". Yet, the Kennedy bill legalizes the 12-20 million in country and allows immediate family members to join them. This could easily result in 36-60 new citizens virtually over night. How do we support this?

* Once this green light is lit, do you really think they will post the 4th ID on the border to secure it? Our current influx of illegals will look like a trickle.

* Tax Cuts: They will get repealed in a heart beat. With a weak (cooperative) stick like McCain in the driver’s seat there will be no one to stand against the clamoring hordes hungry for your tax dollars. What will this do to business in innovation in the US - review the Carter years for your answer.

* McCain's agreement with Kyoto and his buy-in to the whole man made global warming deal ( by the way - FREEZING MY ASS OFF IN IOWA ) - yet another nail in the coffin of American businesses.

* Judges: McCain cared so little for my constitutional rights that he formed his little gang of 14. The filibuster of Supreme Court Justices is unconstitutional - and it should have been settled before Bush left office because McCain and the Democrats certainly will do nothing but salt the court with socialists and believers in "The Living Constitution".

* McCain/Finegold: Florida was a perfect example of why McCain fought so hard for that legislation. He released a pack of lies and inflammatory robo-calls against Romney. Since it was within 30 days of a Primary (or 60 days of a general election), no private group or citizen could buy air time to help Romney rebut these lies. McCain could simply lie over and over knowing full well no one could mount a rigorous response.

* The War: Tell me, do you really think McCain, regardless of his hawkish stance on Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, and the Religion of Peace, do you really think he will have the horse power to rustle up funding for fighting these folks with a Democrat Congress? Once he is POTUS, he will no longer be their friend - he will be their enemy.

* His personality: He is, perhaps the most angry and vindictive member of the Senate today. While these traits may be fine for survival in Vietnam and for getting his way in the Senate, they do not lend themselves to leadership. IF, and this is a BIG IF, between now and November he sees fit to show some contrition for his stupid ideas on immigration, campaign finance, tax cuts, the gang of 14, he might find his footing with the conservatives. He won't do that. Simply because he IS angry and vindictive. I believe the conservative base is going to punish him.

With the election of McCain, I do not believe there would be a dimes worth of difference between him and Hillary. If Obama gets elected, he will be drug around by the nose by every special interest group and the likes of Kennedy. I agree, the results will be brutal. But please don't think that McCain guarantees any level of good treatment for the military and death and destruction to our enemies, it doesn't.

Bill Clinton's role in the Whitehouse - I shudder to think!

So what role doe Bill Clinton believe he will play? Well certainly senior advisor - but he wouldn't want to undermine the Vice President or the Secretary of State. How nice of him.

Clinton said his best use on behalf of his wife, Democratic candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton, were she president, would be "to try to help her talk through all these problems and then to be available for very specific assignments that would not in any way undermine the authority of the vice president or the
secretary of state."

Please Lord, isn't two terms of Bill Clinton enough?? Does ANYONE HONESTLY BELIEVE HE WILL BE WILLING TO DEFER TO HILLARY, even though his name is not on the ballot?? A nightmare approaches!

A state is very angry about the new Arizona law that places more demands on employers to know whether their new employee is in the US legally.

The result of this new law is a flood of Mexican worker - all without money or jobs! The travesty of it all!! MEXICAN state that is complaining about the return of Mexican citizens from their illegal stint in the US.

"Mexico is not prepared for this, for the tremendous problems" it will face as more and more Mexicans working in Arizona and sending money to their families return to hometowns in Sonora without jobs, she said.

It seems as thou the Mayor of Boston believes clinics aren't supposed to make a profit. And god forbid that a retailer provide affordable healthcare.

Menino blasted state regulators for paving the way Wednesday for the in-store clinics, which are designed to provide treatment for sore throats, poison ivy, and other minor illnesses.

The decision by the state Public Health Council, "jeopardizes patient safety," Menino said in a written statement. "Limited service medical clinics run by merchants in for-profit corporations will seriously compromise quality of care and hygiene. Allowing retailers to make money off of sick people is wrong."

Get that, allowing retailers to make money off of sick people is wrong! This is what the left will bring us if we allow them to.

The Dems want "change" - what the hell does that mean???

If I hear the mantra of “change” one more time, I think my head might explode. Let’s explore some of the things that might change with election of a Democrat President and see if we can see where the Democrat party might take us.

It’s time for someone other than President Bush: well, there is a two term limit for President, he’s gone, so no need to worry about change there, it’s going to happen.

A change in our economy: Well, let’s see. The stock market is up 20% since President Bush was elected. Not bad. Since his tax breaks were enacted the US Treasury is taking in record dollars – unfortunately Congress has seen fit to spend at a record level as well. Much has also been said about the housing market and the number of bad home loans in the market place. Yet, this is the direct result of another “change” demanded by Congress – that banks adjust their lending requirements to make it easier for people to get a home loan. Well, after numerous threats, the banking industry did just that, and, oddly, people who had a hard time qualifying for loans in years gone by are now defaulting. Change indeed. As for our labor market, unemployment is at just under 5 per cent. This has been accepted as full employment for years.

So, stock market up 20%, record money coming into the treasury, a housing market that is simply correcting and a labor market at full employment. Just what would the Democrat party change?

US Security: Since 9/11 there has not been an attack on US soil nor has there been an attack on a US Embassy or other US interest globally (excluding Iraq and Afghanistan). Our meticulous efforts in Iraq are beginning to pay real benefits with the surge drastically reducing attacks within the country and allowing the Iraqi people to begin to return to a normal life. As a result of our direct efforts we have begun the process of creating an independent Iraq that is a true friend of the US. We have freed over 50 million Muslims from the tyrannies of Saddam and the Taliban through these efforts.

No attacks on US interests, real movement in Iraq, freeing of 50 million Muslims. Again, what would the Democrat party change?

Leave Iraq immediately: Not all, but most Democrat candidates have vowed a rapid withdrawal from Iraq. So what would follow our quick exit? No one is saying. Oddly, for as much as President Bush was criticized for his lack of evaluation of the result of our invasion of Iraq, the Democrats are now simply repeating the mantra of exit, exit, exit – all without evaluation of what this result would be. Given that we import around 60% of our oil needs, much of it from the Mideast, is it truly in our best interest to allow a power vacuum to occur in Iraq? Is this a change we want – a Mideast in turmoil?

How about immigration: Across the board, all Democrat candidates are in lock-step – we need to find a way to convert the illegal aliens among us into legal citizens. Not only that, their families and their relatives as well. Not only that, how about in-state tuition for their children when they attend college, not to mention a free education in our local school systems. This is positive change? – Allowing criminals to steal the resources of the US? The only change this brings is the stealing of jobs from US citizens and legal immigrants and the theft of our educational and healthcare resources. It would seem that the only changes any Democrat is recommending would increase the harm done by illegal immigrants while punishing those immigrants willing to play by the rules. Is this the type of change we want?

The US Healthcare System: Again, virtually every Democrat candidate is ready to scrap our current healthcare system in favor of a “universal healthcare system”. Just what does that mean? I would like anyone to name a single social program run by the government that has been successful. Social Securing is quickly coming to an end, Medicare costs are spinning out of control, the healthcare provided to our military veterans is approaching a disgrace – and the Democrat candidates want to now bring this expertise to our healthcare system? This is the change we all want? As for the success of socialized medicine in other western countries – name one, just one country with an acceptable socialized medicine program. Canadians, at least those that can afford it, flock to the US for healthcare, Brits pull their own teeth, Swedes wait weeks for evaluation after heart attacks – is this what we are willing to accept in the US?

So please, change? Not a single Democrat has a policy of change that will benefit the citizens of the US, not a single one.

temperatures having fallen since 1998, declining in 2007 to a 1983 level - not

Socialism always plants the seeds of its own destruction, and state-owned oil is no exception. Most people do not realize that about 90 percent of the world's liquid oil reserves are controlled by governments or state-owned companies. Exxon Mobil, the world's largest privately owned oil company, owns only 1.08 percent of the world's oil reserves, and the five largest private global oil companies together own only about 4 percent of the world's oil reserves.

There is enough liquid oil in the ground to last generations; and when oil sands and oil shale are included, there is enough oil to last centuries. If there were a truly free market in oil, with both the reserves and production owned and controlled by many competitive companies, the price of oil would be a fraction of today's price.

Imagine that, centuries of oil, a fraction of today's cost. Who would have thought!

I haven’t read the thing, itself, but I have now read several accounts of Al Gore’s new book, Assault on Reason, wherein he wags fingers at people who watch TV (unless, of course, they’re watching him pimp his book) and the media (particularly those who don’t stick to reporting only his side, of the “manmade” global warming story) and - by all accounts - he trashes the Bush 43 administration from start to finish, enumerating all of Bush’s “lies” and mistakes."

If analysts better understood that situation, timely U.S. intervention could have thwarted Zarqawi and allowed the Anbar Salvation Front to make a difference on the ground sooner.

Similarly, today a critically important debate is raging about whether the United States should set a timeframe for troop withdrawal. While most people seemingly have an opinion on the matter, it's difficult to figure out whether the situation is truly futile without understanding the various factions that we're fighting."

We have a way of viewing our country’s history through the eyes of our own individual experience. While schools attempt to teach us our nation’s history, it is hard to imagine Jamestown, the Pilgrim’s landing and their struggle, the rise of discontent and the Revolution, the razing of the Whitehouse during the War of 1812, the Gold Rush, discoveries of Lewis and Clark, the Civil War, my Grandmother’s birth, World War I, the Great Depression, World War II, Korea, sputnik, polio, Alan Shepard, my Grandmother’ death, the assassination of the Kennedy’s, Munich Olympics, Vietnam, Leon Klinghoffer, Wars against Israel, rise of Islamofacism, Gulf War I, Somalia, The Cole, Gulf War II, the Democrat’s declare defeat and surrender to the terrorists in Iraq, and, finally, today.

My Grandmother way born in 1881. She was a tiny woman, barely reaching 5 feet tall. She seemed small standing next to her husband Bill, 6 feet two in the old family black and white photos. The only images of her with him are from the early 40’s. Both have that tough as nails look of the times - farmers, raising a large family with war about them. Their second war, having lived through the first. Neither was directly involved but their daughters Gerri and Madeline married pilots in WWII, Victor winning the DFC. Bill passed before the war ended, grandma moved into town. Another war – Korea. Big changes – kerosene lamps to electricity, radio to TV, horses to autos, aircraft, spacecraft. She wanted the best for her kids and was willing to do whatever it took to make sure they had their shot. She was firm, direct, tough and loving, kind and cheerful. Everything a grandma should be. My daughter is her great granddaughter. She has seen the advent of the PC, satellite TV and radio, she’s the daughter of a Vietnam Vet, has seen the rise of terrorism, Gulf War I, 9/11 and now Gulf War II. My granddaughter, Adeline was born just a year ago, my Grandmother’s, grandson’s, granddaughter. And so 125 years of history is tied together in my memory, 57 years of which I myself have experienced.

And it happened so fast, those 125 years. Given this timeline, what will Adeline’s granddaughter’s world look like? The year would be around 2075. What would Adeline’s world look like if her great great grandmother’s world would have sat out WWI? What would it look like if D-Day casualties would have prompted the US to decide to let Europe fall to Hitler? What if the battles of Iwo Jima, Corrigadore, Midway, the Philippines would have been too much for them to bear? What if McArthur would have said “To hell with it, I’m not coming back!”? What if they would have abandoned France the way we abandoned Vietnam? There is a price that must be paid by each generation to insure that we stay free. It is not a debt that can be passed to the next generation nor is it an obligation that can be differed. If we are to survive as a free nation, we must be willing to stand against evil, fight and be willing to do so until we win – or all that was brought about on this land that is known as the United States will simply cease.

The question for the Democrat party is this – what legacy are you going to leave Adeline’s granddaughter? Will she be a free woman or a slave of the veil? Will she live in an open and vibrant society or will she be little more than an Islamofacist’s chattel? Will she look back on history and be proud her ancestors stood against an evil enemy at the gate, or will she be subjugated because they opened the gate? Will her country be strong, free and growing, or a heap of nuclear slag?

As the Democrat party marches us gleefully towards defeat, I would ask that they look beyond 2008 to 2075 and into the eyes of my Adeline’s granddaughter. What fate are you bestowing on her in your reckless quest for power?

THE CONGRESSIONAL leaders who visited Damascus this month to meet Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad gave a practical test to the oft-stated theory that "engaging" his regime is more likely to produce results than the Bush administration's policy of isolating it. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was particularly unstinting in her goodwill, declaring that she had come to see Mr. Assad "in friendship, hope, and determined that the road to Damascus is a road to peace." In a statement, her delegation reported that it had talked to Mr. Assad about stopping the flow of foreign terrorists to Iraq and about obtaining the release of kidnapped Israeli soldiers. It also said it had "conveyed our strong interest in the cases of [Syrian] democracy activists," such as imprisoned human rights lawyer Anwar al-Bunni.

Three weeks have passed, so it's fair to ask: Has there been any positive change in Syrian behavior -- any return gesture of goodwill, however slight?

Short answer - nope, things have gotten worse, not better.

The South Carolina debate last night gave the first insights on just how strong the response would be from a Democrat President from the current field to a direct attack, on US soil, by terrorists. Their response should scare the hell out of you!

During the debate, moderator Brian Williams of NBC News brought up Giuliani’s comment, and the candidates quickly pronounced it a “myth.” But Williams then turned to Sen. Barack Obama, second in the polls but gaining fast on the frontrunner, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. “If, God forbid, a thousand times, while we were gathered here tonight, we learned that two American cities had been hit simultaneously by terrorists,” Williams said, “and we further learned beyond the shadow of a doubt it had been the work of al Qaeda, how would you change the U.S. military stance overseas as a result?”

The question was specifically focused on a military response, but Obama didn’t talk about the military, or any use of force at all. “Well, first thing we’d have to do is make sure that we’ve got an effective emergency response, something that this administration failed to do when we had a hurricane in New Orleans,” Obama said. “And I think that we have to review how we operate in the event of not only a natural disaster, but also a terrorist attack.”

“The second thing,” Obama continued, “is to make sure that we’ve got good intelligence, A, to find out that we don’t have other threats and attacks potentially out there; and B, to find out do we have any intelligence on who might have carried it out so that we can take potentially some action to dismantle that network.”

It didn't get any better after that.

Thank You Senator Lieberman!

Though I take issue with many - if not most - of Senator Lieberman's domestic positions, he is a blessing to this country when it comes to his clarity of vision regarding our war with Islamofacists.

Last week a series of coordinated suicide bombings killed more than 170 people. The victims were not soldiers or government officials but civilians -- innocent men, women and children indiscriminately murdered on their way home from work and school.

If such an atrocity had been perpetrated in the United States, Europe or Israel, our response would surely have been anger at the fanatics responsible and resolve not to surrender to their barbarism.

Unfortunately, because this slaughter took place in Baghdad, the carnage was seized upon as the latest talking point by advocates of withdrawal here in Washington. Rather than condemning the attacks and the terrorists who committed them, critics trumpeted them as proof that Gen. David Petraeus's security strategy has failed and that the war is "lost."

Gen. David Petraeus is in Washington this week, where on Monday he briefed President Bush on the progress of the new military strategy in Iraq. Today he will give similar briefings on Capitol Hill, but maybe he should save his breath. As fellow four-star Harry Reid recently informed America, the war Gen. Petraeus is fighting and trying to win is already "lost."

Mr. Reid has since tried to "clarify" that remark, and in a speech Monday he laid out his own strategy for Iraq. But perhaps we ought to be grateful for his earlier candor in laying out the strategic judgment--and nakedly political rationale--that underlies the latest Congressional bid to force a withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq starting this fall. By doing so, he and the Democrats are taking ownership of whatever ugly outcome follows a U.S. defeat in Iraq.

On Thursday, April 12, a gang of Somali thugs on a downtown Oslo street attacked Kadra, a Somali woman who now lives in Norway, and beat her senseless, breaking several of her ribs. They were enraged at her for her recent statement that the Qur’an’s views of women needed reevaluation. They also might have been angry because of her role in revealing the widespread support among imams in Norway for female genital mutilation; Kadra exposed their support for this horrific procedure using a hidden camera in a 2000 documentary for Norwegian television.

As they beat her, Kadra’s attackers shouted Allahu akbar – Allah is great – and recited verses from the Qur’an. “I was terrified,” she said. “While I lay on the pavement they kicked me and screamed that I had trampled on the Koran.”

Could it be?? WMDs were actually found?? What a shock! I wonder why the MSM aren't jumping all over this guy!

It’s a fair bet that you have never heard of a guy called Dave Gaubatz. It’s also a fair bet that you think the hunt for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq has found absolutely nothing, nada, zilch; and that therefore there never were any WMD programmes in Saddam’s Iraq to justify the war ostensibly waged to protect the world from Saddam’s use of nuclear, biological or chemical weapons.

Dave Gaubatz, however, says that you could not be more wrong. Saddam’s WMD did exist. He should know, because he found the sites where he is certain they were stored. And the reason you don’t know about this is that the American administration failed to act on his information, ‘lost’ his classified reports and is now doing everything it can to prevent disclosure of the terrible fact that, through its own incompetence, it allowed Saddam’s WMD to end up in the hands of the very terrorist states against whom it is so controversially at war.

The right decision on Partial Birth Abortion

The SCOTUS, with Justice Kennedy writing the majority decision, delivered the right decision upholding that Partial Birth Abortion is illegal. I hear the cries of the defenders of "womens rights" but I take issue with how they frame the question. It is not a matter of a woman's right to eliminate an unwanted pregnancy. It is a question of whether a woman's rights extend to a woman's right to kill an unborn child.

From Kennedy's opionion - how this procedure is done and its effect on the unborn child:

Kennedy cites a 1992 presentation by a Dr. Martin Haskell describing the method of "intact D&E" ("dilation and evacuation"):

The surgeon then forces the scissors into the base of the skull or into the foramen magnum. Having safely entered the skull, he spreads the scissors to enlarge the opening.

The surgeon removes the scissors and introduces a suction catheter into this hole and evacuates the skull contents.


After quoting this clinical description, Justice Kennedy goes on to relate the eyewitness testimony of a nurse who witnessed the same method performed on a 26-and-a-half-week fetus:

The baby's little fingers were clasping and unclasping, and his little feet were kicking. Then the doctor stuck the scissors in the back of his head, and the baby's arms jerked out, like a startle reaction, like a flinch, like a baby does when he thinks he is going to fall.


Kennedy notes that Dr. Haskell's approach is not the only method of "killing" (Kennedy's word) the fetus once its head lodges in the cervix. The procedures have evolved. He recites the gruesome litany of alternative ways of accomplishing the same end. Again, relying on Haskell, Kennedy says:

Another doctor, for example, squeezes the skull after it has been pierced "so that enough brain tissue exudes to allow the head to pass through." [citations omitted] Still other physicians reach into the cervix with their forceps and crush the fetus' skull. [citation omitted] Others continue to pull the fetus out of the woman until it disarticulates at the neck, in effect decapitating it. These doctors then grasp the head with forceps, crush it, and remove it. [citations omitted]


Kennedy provides much more detail, but I will spare you, gentle reader, from the gory details. You get the idea.

This is what the women's rights groups are fighting for? This saddens be beyond words.

Can you support the troops and be against the war? No.

I suppose we can all massage our view of Iraq to meet our own individual take on what needs to be done to confront the danger of Islamofacism. We can believe that we are taking the high road, declare our invasion of Iraq as doomed and hide behind our borders, praying that a second or third or fourth 9/11 does not happen all the while patting ourselves on the back for supporting the troops by pulling them out of an unwinnable war.

It should be no secret I choose the opposite argument – unless we take these animals on in their own back yard, they will certainly take us on in ours.

But, in under this all, the ones who bear the brunt of our national debate are our troops. They strap up every day, enter the streets of Iraq and do their best to bring a peaceful life to these people. They don’t kill in anger, they don’t use their military skills to plant bombs to kill women and children, and they don’t load up trucks with chlorine gas and detonate them in public squares. They take up arms to protect the weakest, the most defenseless and they follow the warrior tradition doing so. This has been the tradition of the US military. You can see thousands of photos of children running up to GIs asking for food, water, candy – and see the GIs giving out their last bottle of water, their last c-rat or MRE, or their favorite candy bar.

We have seen photos of GIs protecting women with their own bodies during the invasion, cradling the lifeless body of a dead infant and struggling to save the lives of wounded civilians. This is the American GI.

You can read account after account of GIs volunteering for 2^nd and 3^rd tours because they believe the fight is honorable and worthy of their skill, energy and if need be, their life. Ours is a volunteer military, and no where are re-enlistments greater than within Iraq. Think about that. These are the men and women who face the dangers of Iraq daily and they see the value of re-enlisting while still in Iraq. This is the soul of the American GI.

We took very deliberate steps prior to our invasion of Iraq. At the insistence of a Democrat Congress, in the fall of 2002 President Bush went before the UN and asked for one final resolution giving Saddam one last chance (after no fewer than 17 ignored resolutions over the preceding 10 years) to permit free and unfettered access to all suspected WMD sites – 1441 passed unanimously.

There is the ever-present Democrat mantra – “ there were no WMDs”. However, a cursory reading of the reports to the UN by Hans Blix in December 2002 and March 2003 clearly indicate that substantial stores of various WMDs including VX and assorted biological agents had not been accounted for that were clearly on the inventory of the Iraqi military, easily put this argument to rest. A more appropriate question might be: “Where did Saddam send them?” Additionally, over 500 tons of yellowcake and 2 tons of enriched uranium have also been removed by US troops. Interviews with Iraqi scientists clearly show Saddam had little intent of discarding his goal of becoming a regional nuclear power.

Also in the fall of 2002 the Democrat Congress demanded that the President come before Congress and ask for permission to use any and all means necessary to remove Saddam if he did not submit to the conditions of 1441 – he was granted this power with a healthy margin.

In March 2003, with the conditions of 1441 unmet, we asked our military to do just that. At this point, in my view, we were committed until Iraq can defend itself, govern itself and provide a safe environment for their children to grow up in. We have signed this agreement with the blood of 3,200 GIs. We owe these fallen GIs a blood debt.

In January of this year, President Bush announced a significant change in strategy, developed by General David H. Petraeus, and proceeded to ask that General Petraeus be appointed as the Commanding General in Iraq. The Senate overwhelmingly approved his appointment after he clearly detailed his plan and his needs. His reward? A determined effort by the Democrat party to declare defeat and prevent the funding he needs to carry out his plan.

This approach is not supporting our troops – it is a betrayal. This approach will not make us safer – it will encourage our enemy, prolong the battle and cost more American and Iraqi lives. Speaker Pelosi’s visit to our enemies while refusing to speak to President Bush about troop funding dishonors our troops and the memories those who have given their last full measure. Abandoning the Iraqi people because we are weary shames our military and shames our country. We are a stronger people than that. We have a long road in this fight and our survival and that of western culture depend on our willingness to carry this burden and see the fight through.

There are no half measures – no fall back position. We are either victorious or we are defeated. A person either supports our troops and their efforts in our war against Islamofacism – or they do not.

I watched the Democrat party join hands with Al Qaeda this passed week and commit to the defeat of our troops in Iraq. It was a stunning and breathtaking thing to watch.

First, the House passed a “non-binding” resolution disapproving of President Bush’s surge strategy in Iraq. This after the architect of the surge, Lieutenant General David H. Petraeus was overwhelmingly confirmed as the new commander in Iraq. In a glimmer of hope, the Senate failed to pass companion legislation.

Pennsylvania Congressman Murtha proudly announced he would begin a process of obstruction of our efforts in Iraq that has been called a “slow bleed”. I suspect this wording will certainly be accurate because these efforts against our troops will certainly embolden our enemies, sow fear and doubt in the Iraqi’s and reduce their interest in cooperating with our troops on the ground. Undoubtedly the final result will be more American and Iraqi blood spent.

Next up to bat, Senator Clinton setting a date certain of 90 days to begin withdrawal of troops or she will introduce legislation to “revoke authorization” for the war. Of course, President Bush did not need to ask congress to send troops in, he did it out of courtesy, and such legislation would have no legal effect, but the propaganda value to our enemies would be incredible.

And finally, Senator Schumer on Sunday stating that unless President Bush begins to withdraw our troops, the Democrat party will cover the House and Senate with a flood of legislation reminiscent of Viet Nam. Of course, he leaves out the 3 million deaths following our surrender in Viet Nam and the sentencing of the people of Viet Nam to a life under a punishing communist government.

This is the face of our Democrat controlled Congress – one of defeat, cowardice and abandonment of our troops.

But, even more stunning than these pronouncements of support for our defeat in Iraq is the naïve belief that leaving a battlefield is the same as ending a war. I heard over and over and over that the Democrat party was determined to end the war. Really? Who are they negotiating with? What are the terms of the cease fire? What are the terms of the peace agreement? Who negotiated the dissolution of Al Qaeda? Who negotiated the dissolution of Hamas and Hisbola? Does our surrender include a verifiable termination of the development of nuclear weapons in Iran? Or are we just quitting, heading home and praying that the next attack on our soil will not reached the announced Al Qaeda goal of 100,000 casualties?

The reality is this – we are in a global war with Islamofacists that are dedicated, lethal and brutal in their efforts to destroy America, Europe and the West. They have been fully engaged in this effort since the 1972 Olympics and their efforts have grown ever more widespread and lethal. Our surrender does NOT end this war; it simply proves to our enemies that they can attack us without fear and that our ultimate defeat as a culture is assured.

For the Democrats to join forces these people’s goals is beyond my understanding and assures that many more of our troops and our citizens will need to die before it finally hits home – we are in a fight for our survival.

It seems that perhaps the Democrat's and NY Times strategy of leaking the NSA story so early is not going as planned. Slowly but surly, the word is getting out about the purpose and content of the eavesdropping program. This is good news for the President. Americans defend their liberties, but expect to be kept safe from these dangerous threats.

President Bush yesterday defined as "limited" a once-secret program to intercept al Qaeda-linked calls to and from the United States, saying, "This is a limited program designed to prevent attacks on the United States of America, and I repeat -- limited," Mr. Bush told reporters after visiting wounded troops at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
"It seems logical to me that if we know there's a phone number associated with al Qaeda or an al Qaeda affiliate, and they're making phone calls, it makes sense to find out why," he said.

I hope he keeps hammering on this subject.

My wife and I have BOTH undergone cancer treatment. The one common thing about treatment is that NOT ONE doctor confidently stated that "this treatment" or "that treatment" was required for our survival. The choices were always presented to us and we chose our treatment, based on what we felt gave us the best chance of survival.

Katie seems to be caught in the middle of a doctors dispute about what treatment should be used. Actually, my wife had the same cancer, no radiation and after 22 years is still cancer free!

But, to take Katie, the other children and jail the parents?? Words do not describe the anger I feel! This is an example of how the liberals have destroyed our government! It is simply stunning!
