The real problem for George Tenet is that, while he attempts to rewrite history, and his participation in it, people remember what actually happened. You would think that, with the availability of search engines today, Mr. Tenet would simply assume someone might fact check him. Evidently that didn't occur to him.
"Everyone has the right to renounce past views. But not to make up that past. It is beyond brazen to think that one can get away with inventing not ancient history but what everyone saw and read with their own eyes just a few years ago. And yet sometimes brazenness works."
