It would be nice to think someone would ask these basic questions, but no one will. We have truly stepped through the looking glass.

Leon Panetta will appear next week before the Senate Intelligence Committee for his confirmation hearings to become director of the Central Intelligence Agency. His testimony will be the first opportunity for senators to ask tough questions about President Obama's decisions last week to begin rolling back the Bush administration's counterterrorism policies, including dismantling the CIA program to detain and question senior terrorist leaders captured in the war on terror.
